You already have one — DotNotes asks you to create an account or sign in the first time you open it. Sign in with that same account on your other phone or tablet and everything you've written follows you there. Writing itself never waits for a connection: notes are saved on the device first and synced whenever you're next online.

A spark is one sentence about today — the line you'd want to find again in ten years. You can keep several a day, and crown the one that mattered most: open a spark and turn on Show on Home. That one appears in the DotNotes home-screen widget until you crown another.

Press and hold an empty spot on your home screen, tap the plus in the corner, search for DotNotes, and add “Your spark”. Crown a spark in the app and it appears there — one glowing sentence in the dark. The phone decides how often a widget may refresh, so now and then it lags behind; opening DotNotes nudges it along.

Tap the to-do to open its page. Everything about it lives there: the line itself, the steps under it, the date, a repeat, a reminder, a star for the ones that matter, files you attach, and a longer note behind the line. Add steps one after another and tick them off — the list row stays a single line however much the page holds.

Yes. A note is a run of blocks, so a photo or a table sits at the point in the writing where you added it, not in a tray above it. Put the cursor where you want it and use the toolbar under the keyboard. Underneath it's all still plain Markdown, which is why your export opens anywhere.

Open Calendar and use the switch beside the back arrow to change the month grid into an agenda — every event in one list, grouped Today, This week, Later and Past. The grid answers “what's on the 14th”; the agenda answers “what's next”.

Settings → Appearance. Choose System to follow your phone, or pin Light or Dark and DotNotes stays there whatever the phone does. The accent colour underneath has a daylight version and a night one, so it stays readable in both — and the app icon comes in light, dark and tinted to match your home screen.

Yes. Open Settings → Recently Deleted, find your note, and tap it to restore it. Notes are only gone for good when you choose Delete Forever there yourself.

Settings → Export all notes. You get everything as plain Markdown text, to keep wherever you like. Your words are yours — and they're stored as plain text precisely so they're never stuck here.

Languages installed on your phone are transcribed on the device; other languages go through the system speech service, which needs an internet connection. Adding your language in your phone's keyboard and language settings usually helps. Also check that DotNotes has microphone and speech recognition permission in system Settings.

DotNotes writes events into your phone's own calendar, so they appear in Apple and Google Calendar too. Make sure DotNotes has calendar permission in system Settings, and that the calendar it writes to is visible in your calendar app.

Settings → Delete Account, right in the app. Your account and your synced content are removed from our servers. Anything you exported beforehand stays yours.
